Clinical Practice
Mr Martin is a Consultant Neurosurgeon at the Institute of Neurological Sciences in Glasgow. He completed fellowship training in Stereotactic, Functional and Pain Neurosurgery in Oxford and Functional and Epilepsy Neurosurgery in Dublin.
His principal subspecialist practice is in functional neurosurgery and neuromodulation, the use of implanted devices and targeted surgical procedures to treat disorders of brain and nervous system function, including surgery for movement disorders, pain, spasticity and epilepsy. Alongside this, he maintains a broad general neurosurgical practice encompassing cranial and spinal conditions, with a particular interest in Chiari malformation.
Functional Neurosurgery and Neuromodulation
Surgical treatment for disorders of nervous system function, including deep brain stimulation for movement disorders such as Parkinson’s disease and tremor; neuromodulation for chronic pain and spasticity; and surgical and neuromodulation treatments for epilepsy.
General & Spinal Neurosurgery
Assessment and surgical management of a broad range of elective and emergency adult cranial and spinal conditions, including neurotrauma, degenerative cervical and lumbar disease, disc prolapse, spinal stenosis, nerve compression, hydrocephalus and Chiari malformation.
